David “Buddy” Blackburn
Buddy is a proven leader with 35 years’ experience in aviation including fixed base operations, planning, and development, with a focus on growing business and exceeding customer expectations. He provides leadership for all Clay Lacy FBO locations managing lease and sublease negotiations, building design and construction oversite, training and customer service initiatives, and safety and quality assurance programs.
Buddy first joined Clay Lacy in 2019 as senior vice president of operations for our Waterbury-Oxford FBO, prior to promotion of overseeing all Clay Lacy FBO properties. Prior to joining Clay Lacy, he led operations and development of Keystone Aviation Services CT. FBO for 30 years before being acquired by a large FBO chain in 2017. During his time with Keystone, he led the growth from one 15,000 sf. hangar to 400,000 sf. of hangars, office, and shop space in two states as well as a full-service on-airport restaurant property. Buddy has served on many airport and nonprofit committees and boards including NATA airport’s committee, local chamber of commerce, Boy Scouts of America, and the Boys and Girls Club. Buddy served his country for six years in the US Air Force and finished his service with the Connecticut Air National Guard (CTANG).
