An Industry Leader

With more third-party audits and sustainability certifications, Clay Lacy is the most recognized and awarded company in business aviation.

Advocating for sustainable aviation fuel

As a leader in our industry and member of the National Business Aviation Association and National Air Transport Association, we actively support the development and adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). We are proud to offer SAF at all of our FBO locations.

We were the first company certified to the National Air Transportation Association’s (NATA) Sustainability Standard for Aviation Businesses. We are also the world’s first company to be independently reviewed and rated Facility Green Level by 4AIR, affirming Clay Lacy’s FBO facilities and ground emissions lead industry level standards and meet carbon neutrality.

Another example of accreditation is from the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) which recognized Clay Lacy as a Sustainable Flight Department in the category of infrastructure, another first in the industry.

Clay Lacy also continues to meet requirements for local recognition including becoming a Los Angeles Certified Green Business and California Green Business Network. We have also been recognized among the nation’s leading green power users by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Clay Lacy’s sustainability efforts go beyond fuel or infrastructure. Its flights at airports are designed to have as little disruption as possible, reducing noise and fulfilling its commitment to being a good neighbor to the community.

At all Clay Lacy FBO locations, we actively participate in Fly Friendly Programs that go above and beyond voluntary noise abatement and curfew regulations.

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) recognized Clay Lacy as part of its Fly Friendly Program at Van Nuys Airport (VNY) for the eighth time since the program was established in 2012, reflecting the company’s voluntary measures to reduce aircraft noise to surrounding communities.

Each development will be certified carbon neutral focusing on sustainable features and operations, including solar panel provisions, EV charging, and efficient building design to reduce its environmental footprint. It is currently building the world’s first ISI Envision Gold Certified FBO at John Wayne Airport (SNA).

SAF is a blended jet fuel that is acceptable for use on aircraft and engines approved to operate with Jet-A or Jet A-1 fuels meeting the D1655 standard. It combines fuel made from a very wide range of renewable feedstocks, including plant-based resources like soybean and corn oil, with non-renewable fossil fuel. The blended ratio of renewable to traditional fuel is typically 30%-70%, but can be as high as 50%-50%. And 100% renewable fuel is on the horizon. Learn more.

Available today, carbon offsets are a starting point to make a positive impact on our environment. They are a simple, easy, and direct way for jet owners and passengers to offset their carbon emissions by supporting sustainable projects around the world—such as expanding solar and wind energy farms, methane gas capture and reforestation. Achieving 100%-300% carbon neutral flight operations often involves a combination of Sustainable Aviation Fuel and purchasing certified carbon offset credits. Learn more.

Clay Lacy Aviation is actively preparing for the future of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) and advanced air mobility (AAM) aircraft through strategic partnerships with leading manufacturers, including Overair, Joby, Supernal, and Eviation’s Alice. These ultra-quiet, all-electric aircraft promise to enhance urban transportation by reducing congestion and travel times.

Clay Lacy is working to develop end-to-end operational plans for integrating future flight technologies into existing airport infrastructure, with a focus on developing standards and procedures for ground handling, maintenance, and sufficient power and charging infrastructure.

Carbon Neutral Facilities

Every Clay Lacy facility across the country has been operating carbon neutral since 2019. Current and future construction is designed to be certified at the highest level of sustainability.
